Here is a re-post of a piece I did on Linda Chorney on 1/12/2010. She has since been released her 6th CD Emotional Jukebox, and you can follow the links below to purchase her CDs.
She recently appeared at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, performing at the Pat Benetar show, which you can catch a glimpse of here:
Rock on Linda!
One of the great things about this social networking stuff is that you never know who (or what) you’re going to meet.
While searching through some band submissions for the Clearwater Festival at Asbury Park a while back, I stumbled on a song called “Just Say No To Sarah”. Upon visiting her MySpace site, my mouth stood agape when I saw the list of accomplishments of the singer:
Actor, songwriter, artist, photographer, top-forty recording artist, etc etc etc. Wow, right here in the Asbury Park area.
With 5 CDs and a top-forty hit to her credit, there is almost no way you can exagerate about Linda Chorney’s talent. Brilliant songwriter, rocking performer, provacative photograper- use as many adjectives as you want, they all fit!
Her top forty hit was 2002’s “Living Alone”, which was recorded several years into her career. Since then her music has been featured on the big screen, and she even has acted, in 2002’s Out Of These Rooms. She has also featured on Grammy winning Flamenco Guitar recording artist Hernan Romero’s CDs.
She has toured the world, in such places as Australia, China, Bermuda and Alaska, and shared marquees with several superstars such as Jackson Browne and Sheryl Crowe.
Lately she has been residing here in Monmouth County, performing in Atlantic Highlands, at the Blue Bay Inn, where she hosts the “Linda’s wicked Awesome Music Show” and several events in the Asbury Park area, including this weeks Light Of Day Songwriters By The Sea series, where she will performing this Sunday at 12 PM at the Watermark on the boardwalk.
Whew! Gotta catch my breath, give me a sec!
You should also check out her videos on YouTube- be sure to catch the one for “Sink Or Swim”, which was shot underwater!
Her music can be clever, somber, rocking, soulful and a combination of any of those. Her tone-perfect voice is as comfortable with a slow ballad as it is with a rocker or pointed political commmentary.
You can hear here music, purchase her CDs, see her artwork and photography, and read all about her varied career on her main site below.
